Marcus co-founded Cyphers in 2014 and has been Artistic Director since then. For Cyphers, he has directed production of: Henry V, Great Expectations, The Three Musketeers, Northanger Abbey and Orlando.

 

As a freelance director, Marcus primarily works with new writing. This includes supporting writers and theatre makers to develop their scripts and ideas, as well as directing full productions. He has worked at venues such as: Barbican Centre, Nuffield Southampton Theatres, Sheffield Theatres, Cast Doncaster, French Institute of Scotland, Reine Blanche Theatre Paris, and Pleasance Islington.

 

In 2018, Marcus was awarded a JMK Regional Bursary to work as assistant director on Wiltshire Creative’s Christmas show, Beauty and the Beast. This involved working with music, choreography and a community chorus, as well as directing understudy rehearsals and leading additional technical rehearsals in a mid-scale venue.
